If fresh sangria is ever on a restaurant menu, I rarely pass it up. And when there is sparkling wine involved, I have no choice but to partake. Cava sangria is where it’s at, my friends. This recipe uses fresh fruit juices, Grand Marnier, and Cava to make a tasty, refreshing cocktail.
One of the things I like most about this cocktail is that it is great for any time of day. Cava sangria is great with brunch, on a weekend afternoon, for Friday happy hour, or even after dinner. This recipe is also fun to mix up for a party! From brunch to game day to bridal showers, you really can’t go wrong with this Cava sangria recipe. It’s one versatile cocktail. And I love that.
Unlike traditional sangrias, this Cava sangria does not need to be made ahead of time and does not need sit for hours in the fridge before drinking. No wait time here. Woohoo! If you need to make it ahead of time for a party, just add all of the ingredients to a pitcher or punch bowl, then let it chill until serving. When you’re ready to serve, just pour in the cold Cava!
One more important note. You want to make sure that the Cava sangria is nice and cold when serving, so make sure all of the ingredients are ice cold before making this recipe. That includes the fruit and Grand Marnier! If you need to keep the sangria out for a party but want to keep it cold, I would suggest making ice cubes with orange or apple juice and using those as needed.
This Cava sangria is meant to be made with fresh fruit juices. You can substitute with bottle fruit juices, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The flavors and nutrients you get from fresh juices are far superior to the bottled stuff. To make the fruit juices you can use a juicer, a blender, a food processor, or squeeze by hand. Okay, you can’t squeeze the apple by hand, so you’ll need a juicer, blender or food processor for that one. I make the juices in my Vitamix by cutting the fruit into slices, discarding the seeds, and then blending on high using the tamper. After that, I strain the juices through a fine mesh sieve. You can also strain through a cheese cloth. It’s really much easier than it sounds and well worth the extra bit of effort to get fresh juices.
Cheers!
