Here in California, bison meat is pretty easy to come by and usually much less expensive than grass-fed beef. It’s a great alternative if you eat a lot of red meat like we do and don’t want to spend a fortune on groceries every month. Generally, bison meat is leaner than beef so it’s much easier to overcook! And then it will be tough and gross. Just don’t overcook it. I wouldn’t recommend trying to cook it more done than medium. We like it medium-rare.
This ranch steak is great for a quick and nutritious breakfast or can be used as a quick filling for some tacos! If you’re looking to have a steak for dinner, I would suggest opting for the New York strip bison steak instead because it’s more tender and more of a dinner-type cut in my opinion.
