Finished grilled chicken skewers on sheet pan with Texas Pete hot sauce

Hot Honey Butter Grilled Chicken

Grilling season is here and this Hot Honey Butter Grilled Chicken is sure to be on repeat all spring and summer! It’s so easy to throw together and perfect for a fun weekend dinner or even a quick weeknight meal. It’s also perfect for meal prep since you can make a big batch!

This recipe is gluten free and can easily be made paleo, dairy free, and keto. For paleo just sub ghee for the butter and add a little extra salt. For strict dairy free, try using a vegan butter. And for low carb/keto, sub a sugar free honey. I love how customizable this recipe is!

You Need This Hot Honey Butter

The star of this recipe is really the Hot Honey Butter. I mean, WOW!! It’s so flavorful and super addictive! Perfect for basting, dipping, and drizzling! And I love how easy it is to throw together!

Besides the flavor, one of my favorite parts about this Hot Honey Butter is that it actually stays liquid when refrigerated, despite having butter in it. How cool is that?? Perfect for meal prep bowls!

Spices

Speaking of spice, it’s worth mentioning that the finished dish is not super spicy. I’d classify it as a mild/medium heat, nothing overpowering and fairly suitable for most tastes! If you want it with more of a kick, try adding some cayenne pepper to the Hot Honey Butter mixture until it fits your taste!

Some meal ideas for this dish: I like to serve this delicious Hot Honey Butter Grilled Chicken on a bed of rice with some grilled asparagus or zucchini to make a delicious grilled chicken and rice bowl. You can also use cauliflower rice for a paleo or keto option.

I also love this grilled chicken on top of a big salad with lots of different fresh and/or grilled veggies. Don’t forget to drizzle your bowl or salad with the Hot Honey Butter! I also love to serve this chicken on it’s own like you would with wings and use the Hot Honey Butter for dipping! The perfect appetizer for any occasion!

This delicious grilled chicken is so juicy, flavorful, and easy to make! Perfect for spring and summertime grilling! It's gluten free and can be made paleo by using ghee instead of butter or dairy free by using a vegan butter. This recipe can also be made keto by using a sugar free honey. Enjoy!
    Prep Time: 10 minutes
    Cook Time: 12 minutes
    Servings: 8 servings

    Ingredients

    Chicken and Marinade

    • 1 cup Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce
    • 1/4 cup honey**
    • 3 lb chicken breasts cut into 1" cubes
    • Avocado oil for brushing before grilling

    Hot Honey Butter

    • 1/2 cup Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce
    • 1/2 cup salted butter melted*
    • 1/2 cup honey**
    • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt

    Instructions

    • Make marinade by whisking together 1 cup Texas Pete® Original Hot Sauce and 1/4 cup honey in a large mixing bowl. Place cubed chicken in marinade, toss to coat, and allow to sit for 1 hour at room temperature (you may need to refrigerate if your kitchen is very warm).
    • Preheat grill to medium-high heat (425ºF/218ºC).
    • Skewer chicken to make kabobs.
    • Make hot honey butter by whisking together all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Reserve half of the mixture for serving and use the other half for basting while grilling.
    • Grill chicken. Once grill is hot, brush chicken kabobs and grill grates with avocado oil (approx. 1/4 cup). Grill chicken for 5 minutes (with the lid closed), brush with hot honey butter, then flip the kabobs. Grill for 5 more minutes, then baste and flip again. Grill for about 2-5 more minutes. Total grilling time will be 12-15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF/74ºC. Brush the kabobs one more time with hot honey butter before removing from the grill.
    • Serve with reserved hot honey butter for dipping or drizzling!
