Cotton Candy Grape Sorbet (Dairy Free, Paleo, Gluten Free)

What are cotton candy grapes?

Cotton candy grapes are a fun varietal of grapes that actually taste like cotton candy! I know it sounds crazy, but they really do! I highly recommend them if you’ve never tried them before.

cotton candy grapes

Cotton candy grapes were developed by a California grape producer called Grapery. They were able to cross-pollinate a variety of different grapes to create fun flavors like this one! This is an all-natural process and the grapes are non-GMO.

Where to buy all of the ingredients

I picked up everything I needed for this grape sorbet at my local Sprouts Farmers Market! Sprouts has a huge selection of grapes in their stores right now, with tons of fun varieties to choose from, like these yummy cotton candy grapes!

I just love the flavor of these and so does my whole family! They are just bursting with sweet, cotton candy flavor and have a wonderful juicy texture that is simply irresistible.

If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re in for a treat. They really do taste like cotton candy!

Ingredients to make this easy grape sorbet

  • 2 lbs cotton candy grapes – Make sure to freeze them before you begin the recipe! I just wash them the night before, allow them to drain completely, then freeze them in a storage container overnight.
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice – I always recommend fresh lemon juice because the flavor is just so much better than the bottled stuff! Since this recipe only has 3 ingredients, it is even more imperative that you use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor. You’ll thank me later!
  • 2 Tbsp honey – I recommend sourcing local honey if you can. If you can’t find something local then I recommend looking for something from a single source, as opposed to a mix of different honeys. And raw honey is best for its health benefits!

How to make cotton candy grape sorbet

STEP 1

Add 2 lbs frozen grapes, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, and 2 Tbsp honey to a food processor or high-powered blender.

STEP 2

Blend on high until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides and bottom as needed. This should take about 3 to 4 minutes.

STEP 3

That’s it! Serve immediately for the best texture. If it’s thawed some, you can also pop it in the freezer for about 20 minutes to make it more scoopable!

**PRO TIP** Freeze your serving dishes/bowls so that the sorbet doesn’t begin to melt before you get a chance to serve it. And if you want you can also scoop out individual servings into serving dishes, place them on sheet pan, then freeze until you’re ready to serve. That way you’re not scrambling to get the sorbet made, scooped out, and served before it begins to melt.

How to make this recipe vegan or low carb

To make this recipe vegan, just use agave nectar, date syrup (although this will make the sorbet a darker color), or maple syrup instead of honey. And if you want a lower carb version, you can use a sugar-free honey like this one.

If you want to you can also omit the sweetener altogether! To be honest, the grapes are plenty sweet as is, so the sweetener isn’t all that necessary.

I do love the subtle flowery taste the honey gives this sorbet though, so I do recommend using it if you can!

How to serve cotton candy grape sorbet

This yummy sorbet is a wonderful summer dessert or afternoon treat for the kids because it’s so light and fresh.

This grape sorbet is also great as a palate cleanser between courses during a dinner party! I know that sounds unnecessary to most, but it’s really a fun way to elevate your next dinner party and allow your guests to enjoy their next course without the taste of the last one in their mouths.

How do I store the leftovers?

Any leftover grape sorbet can be stored in the freezer in an air-tight container.

If your freezer is very cold then the sorbet might harden quite a bit. Just allow to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping it out and make sure to heat your scoop in a cup of hot water to make scooping easier.

If it seems too icy after freezing, just toss it back into your blender with a splash of water or lemon juice to fluff it back up.

This recipe is best eaten right away or scooped into individual portions to freeze until ready to serve.
